My background is medicine, and the olfactory sense is the only one wired directly to the brain. All others, vision, touch, aural, go through a type of censorship by the brain before being registered in the conscious mind.
Yoshiaki Hiruma is indeed a genius and a visionary.
His art focuses on the most important sense of all, and the one that we rely on most, but seldom notice.
It requires courage to carry out an artistic imperative, and go beyond the traditions of centuries, the comfortable way of doing things, especially tea, which has inspired so much reverence and tradition.
.And you also, Shiho, for recognizing this genius and educating the rest of us who only think of tea as a pleasing beverage....Be well, and drink cha! :))
